Brendan McGlynn put on a show in Oakville's final game of the 2015-2016 regular season, beating the Aurora Tigers by a score of 3-2 on Friday night.

The Blades had a quiet first period, taking just seven shots compared to Aurora's 18. But what the Blades realized this year is that when they don't shoot often, they seem to score regardless. On their seventh and final shot of the period, Jackson Bales picked up a rebound in front off of a shot by Patrick Kudla, and hit it it in for a 1-0 goal to end the opening period.

With just over nine minutes completed in the second period, the Blades found themselves up by two goals. This time, their fourth line did some damage, as Evan Brown made a nice pass to Brendan Doherty in front. Doherty, who only had two goals heading into the game, made no mistake with the short side marker, beating Josh Boyko, making it 2-0 Blades.

The Blades weren't dominating the puck. When it came down to it, both teams were playing rather safely since nothing was on the line. That didn't stop the Blades from taking a 3-0 lead; Tyler Rollo with three minutes completed in the period gave Oakville the three goal advantage.

Brendan McGlynn's stellar shutout bid would be unfortunately broken after 37 shots. Daniel Mantenuto found a way to beat the Blades starting goaltender with a lazer beam of a wrist shot, giving Aurora some life in a game where they just couldn't figure out how to capitalize on their chances.

The Tigers would get an extra one from Mantuenuto with just over two minutes left, but McGlynn's 48th save was enough to take the 3-2 win and skate off into the post-season with momentum.

The Blades will now turn their focus to their playoff effort against division rivals, the St. Michael's Buzzers. The first round schedule is set to be released in the coming days, so remember to check out OakvilleBlades.ca every day to find out when the team will be in action!
