The Oakville Blades have forced game six in their Southwest Conference final series, beating the Georgetown Raiders 4-3 on Thursday evening.

The Blades needed just 4:13 to score the first goal of the game, a much-needed marker to start the contest off. It was one that Georgetown would want back as Nicholas Turenko went along the hash marks at the right boards in the offensive zone, shooting the puck towards the net. It didn't look dangerous until Jack Ricketts tipped the puck past Josh Astorino at the last second, giving the Blades the 1-0 lead early.

Two quick goals saw each team add to the score sheet. At 16:39, Josh Dickinson took the puck in the corner and skated in after fighting off a Blades defender, sliding it between Brendan McGlynn's legs to tie the game up.

But 30 seconds later, Chris Brill-Morgan made it 2-1 for Oakville. Tyler Hildebrandt did the dirty work, forcing the play into the Georgetown zone, but Brill-Morgan managed to tip the pass in front past Astorino to take back their lead.

Brill-Morgan, who is set to finish his junior hockey career at the conclusion of the playoffs, scored another to take the two-goal lead into the first intermission. At 18:56, Peyton Reeves made a great pass from the boards and sent it directly into the slot, where Brill-Morgan was able to one-time the shot to make it 3-1 after a period of play.

Keegan Blasby would bring Georgetown within one just 57 seconds into the second. The small winger would fight off two defencemen before sending a hard shot above McGlynn's glove hand, making it 3-2 with two-thirds of the game still left to go.

Four minutes into the period, Matt Hayami scored his second goal of the power play. Just like the previous three Blades goals, the puck didn't last long on Hayami's stick as he one-timed the Ryan Foss feed from the left of the net, and having the puck trickle over the goal line and in to make it 4-2 Blades.

A shorthanded marker by league MVP Jack Jacome brought the Raiders back within a goal again. Jacome came in all alone on a breakaway before making a quick deke on McGlynn, pushing the puck into the net on the forehand to make it 4-3 with time running out in the middle frame.

McGlynn had to be extremely good in the third period, and he played up to par. With Georgetown desperate to end Oakville's season, Georgetown sent 14 shots towards Oakville's net, with the Blades keeper deflecting every single one of them. It was a major reason why the Blades stayed in the game, winning game five to keep the series alive.

With the win, Oakville will look to further extend the series at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 8:00 PM start time at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex. Hope to see a huge crowd at home!
