Oakville's Olympic hopefuls for the 2018 are Brianne Jenner, Cody Goloubef, and Evan McEachran. Considering that Oakville is such a small community, our representation at the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea is commendable.

Brianne Jenner - Women's Ice Hockey Team

Brianne was born and raised in Oakville. She attended Appleby College, where she was a star player on Appleby College's Varsity Girls Hockey Team. However, since then she has accomplished a few things.

In 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, and 2017 she won silver at the International Ice Hockey Federation's World Championships. In 2014 Sochi Olympic Games she won the Gold medal.

Cody Goloubef - Men's Ice Hockey Team

Though Cody was born in Mississauga, he really grew up in Oakville. Back in 2003, he started off playing midget hockey for the Toronto Marlboro's - hopefully not the cigarette company. Anyways, I digress. He played for two years in the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League - which in our town team is the Oakville Blades. I keep saying, that you'll get to see some great hockey at a Blades Game.

Since then, he has played for the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He ended his college career after helping Wisconsin reach NCAA Championship Game in the 2009–10 season. Cody moved from college to the American Hockey League, and then on to the NHL. He was released from his NHL contract in 2017, allowing him to play on the Canadian Olympic Team.

Evan McEachran - Freestyle Skiing

The youngest of the three Oakvillians attending the Olympics, Evan was born, raised and still lives in Oakville. So does that make him the most Oakvillian of all? When I was young, you had to be born at OTMH, to be considered a local.

Evan was a natural skier, and joined the Ontario provincial team when he was just 11 years old. He first hit the international podium in 2014. He won gold at the Association of Freeskiing Professionals World Championships in Whistler. In November 2017 he placed second at the World Cup in Stubia, Austria. Recently, he won a bronze medal at Mammoth Mountain in California.

Brianne Jenner, Cody Goloubef, and Evan McEachran are Oakville's Olympic hopefuls. We got lots of talent in Pyeonchang, so let's cheer them on!
