One of the newer sports franchises in Oakville is looking for more fans to attend their home games. The Oakville Titans Lacrosse team of the Ontario Senior B Lacrosse Association are in their second season after being relocated from Wellington.

“Oakville for us meant opportunity. In a smaller market like Elora it was really hard for us to generate fans. Being in Oakville was an opportunity to work with our major affiliate, the Oakville Rock. It’s also an opportunity to draw more players because there’s a lot more within an hour drive of Oakville,” said Josh Briscoe, General Manager of the Titans.
The head coach of the Titans is Mark Lewis. Lewis brings a strong lacrosse knowledge along with a player’s coach mentality. “He knows when to be calm and he knows when to yell,” said Briscoe.

Every game and every practice he just leaves it on the floor and he’s one of those players that you can’t help but pick it up when he’s there,” he said.
Attendance for the Oakville Titans is similar to that of the Oakville Blades hockey team. They get between one hundred and one hundred and fifty fans a game.
“It’s (attendance) getting bigger and bigger. Last year in the playoffs we were nearly up to 300 fans a game,” said Briscoe.

Last year the Oakville Titans tied for the best record in the Ontario Senior B Lacrosse Association with the Sarnia Saints. Both teams finished with 11-5 records respectively. Despite a phenomenal season, the Titans finished the playoffs with an 0-3 record.
“I think we needed just a little bit of experience to learn how to play in the playoffs. It’s a totally different atmosphere and everything in the playoffs,” he said.
Briscoe and the Titans are hoping to draw valuable experience from last year’s playoffs to finish strong once again in 2013.
