The 26th Annual Mayor’s Invitational Golf Tournament in support of United Way was met with great success. Over 140 golfers enjoyed a beautiful day at Glen Abbey Golf Club, strengthening their golf swings and our community. This year’s tournament raised more than $140,000 for United Way Oakville’s 2014 fundraising campaign.

“The success of this tournament gives us a great foundation for our annual fundraising campaign, set to kick-off in September,” Sean O’Brien, President & CEO of Reliance Home Comfort and 2014 Campaign Cabinet Chair commented. “We couldn’t do it without the support of the Town of Oakville, as well as the organizations and individuals in the community who came together to make the magic happen.”

The afternoon of golf was followed by dinner and a silent auction, attended by His Worship Mayor Rob Burton, Minister of Labour and MPP Kevin Flynn, and Councillors Alan Johnston, Dave Gittings, and Keith Bird.

The silent auction alone raised over $14,000 for the tournament, in which the feature item was a top-of-the-line high efficiency furnace and air conditioning system donated by Reliance Home Comfort and Rheem Canada.

Special thanks to the Title Sponsor, the International Union of Operating Engineers, who have supported the Mayor’s Invitational for the past eight years.

Thanks also to the 2014 Presenting Sponsor, Cogeco, and Leading Sponsors Bot Construction Group, Branthaven Homes, Great Gulf Homes, Moen Inc., and Reliance Home Comfort. Gold Level Sponsors included Carttera Developments, Duff Contracting Ltd., Frank Cowan Company, Mattamy Homes, Oakville Hydro, and Pelmorex Media.
