Our beloved mother Jean Latham passed away at Matthews House Hospice, Alliston on Thursday, October 10, 2024, three days before her 93rd birthday. Predeceased by John, husband of 47 years, in 2006. Predeceased by brother Harold Hampel (Mary) in 2021 and son-in-law Rick Plume in 2024. Survived by daughters Wendy Plume and Joy Trump (Elmer), grandchildren Amy Trump (Craig) and Tiffany Fletcher (Mark), great grandchildren Ava, Brantley, Evelyn and Tobias, and cousins and other relatives in the Ottawa Valley.

Born in Pembroke in 1931, Jean worked as a legal secretary first in Pembroke and then in Toronto after she moved there in 1950, where she got married and had children. Once grandchildren arrived, the move was made to Oakville to be closer to them. She later sold her home and moved to an apartment in Barrie.

Jean had many talents, including watercolour painting, sewing, and gardening. She was active in the Lutheran Church, but her happy place was working in her beautiful gardens. She was active in the garden club in Toronto and Oakville, regularly winning trophies for her flower arrangements and horticultural contributions. She also enjoyed creating flower arrangements for church services and weddings.

Visitation will be held at Legacy Funeral Home 55 Cedar Pointe Drive, Barrie (parking and entrance on HWY 400 side of building) on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 1:00, followed by the funeral service at 2:00. Refreshments to follow.

Those wishing to make a donation in honour of Jean’s memory can make it to Matthews House Hospice in Alliston.
