Every year a thousand plus Oakvillians head down to Coronation Park for the Courage Polar Bear Dip on January 1st, and this year will be no exception.

Since 1995 the Courage Polar Bear Dip has raised $1,471,000 for World Vision Canada which has provided clean drinking water for thousands of families. Did you know that clean water can reduce infant mortality by 65 percent.

There is still time to beat the crowds who register at the event. Pre-registration can be done at 2380 Speers Road between 2 to 4 PM today, Friday, December 30, 2017. The cost to register is $25.00 per person. You can also register for the event on-line as well.

Parking is limited at Coronation Park so Free Shuttle Bus service is provided at South Oakville Centre (formerly Hopedale Mall) 1515 Rebecca Street close to the Beer Store on the east side of the property starting at 12:15pm. At 12:30 registration tables open and live music by Whaling starts on the main stage at Coronation Park. A costume contest will be held on the main stage at 1:15 PM which will include awards for best individual costume as well as top best group costume. At 1:55 PM the Grand Prize draws will take place.

At 2:00 PM after the costumed swimmers have been escorted to the front of the dippers, it will be time to head into the Icy Waters of Lake Ontario.

After drying off you can continue partying at the Tin Cup who will be the host of the after party starting at 3:00 PM. Tin Cup will be donating 10% of all food proceeds to the Courage Polar Bear Dip.

Whether you come to Coronation Park in Oakville on Sunday, January 1, 2017 to enjoy the live music and festival atmosphere with family and friends, take part in the dip as a wild way to ring in the new year or join us dressed in your craziest costume to win prizes and later see yourself on the news, it is all for a great cause!
