72-year-old man charged after knife incident at Oakville hotel

Police say the man is accused of "making threatening stabbing gestures" at the Wyecroft Road hotel

A 72-year-old man was charged following a knife incident that occurred at Oakville's Staybridge Suites last week.

According to Halton Police, the incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 14.

The man, who has no fixed address, was allegedly in possession of a knife "making threatening stabbing gestures towards residents of the hotel," police say. Police reported no physical injuries or physical altercations.

The man was charged with Assault with a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.

He has been released on an undertaking and will attend a future court date, police say.
