Emergency services shut down Rebecca Street for person in crisis

A large emergency services presence on Rebecca Street shut the road down from Bronte Road to Mississaga Street today, March 26. Police confirmed they were on the scene for a person in crisis atop the bridge over Bronte Creek.

A large emergency services presence on Rebecca Street shut down the road from Bronte Road to Mississaga Street for several hours today, March 26, 2024. 

Police have confirmed that they were on scene for a person in crisis on the Rebecca Street bridge over Bronte Creek.

The situation was ongoing for several hours, with multiple paramedics, fire trucks, and police cruisers on scene. 

Oakville Fire was also staged underneath the bridge. 

Multiple sources at the scene report the person was taken into police custody and is safe.

The road was reopened at approximately 4:20 p.m.
