Fire damages outside of Oakville restaurant, investigation underway

Police are investigating after a fire broke out outside Hibachi Teppanyaki and Bar's front doors at 105 Cross Avenue. Police say the cause of the fire is unknown.

Police are investigating after a fire broke out outside Hibachi Teppanyaki and Bar's front doors at 105 Cross Avenue. Police say the cause of the fire is unknown. 

According to Halton police Constable Jeff Dillon, the fire started from a garbage can that was positioned near the front entrance of the restaurant at 12:36 a.m. on July 18.

Oakville Fire responded and successfully extinguished the flames before they could spread further.

No injuries were reported. However, the exterior of the building sustained some damage due to the flames and smoke.

The restaurant remains secure despite the incident.

At this time, no estimate for the damage has been provided. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.
