Knife incident at Oakville pub leads to arrest

Suspect faces weapon-related charges after early morning altercation

Halton Police have charged a 40-year-old man from Mississauga following an incident at an Oakville sports pub in the early hours of Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025.

According to police, officers were called to Monaghan’s Sports Pub & Grill, located at Marlborough Court and Trafalgar Road near Sheridan College, at approximately 2:15 a.m. They received reports of a male who had pulled out a knife during an altercation before leaving the scene in a vehicle.

Police say they located the suspect’s vehicle at Trafalgar Road and Iroquois Shore Road, where they conducted a traffic stop and arrested the suspect.

The man has been charged with Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand, police said. He was held for a bail hearing.

No injuries were reported to police in connection with the altercation.
