Late September sees crime rate drop: Sept. 25 to Oct. 1, 2024 Oakville crime report

After a surge last week, the number of crime incidents for the end of September was down 20%

Halton Regional Police responded to 34 crime incidents in Oakville between Sep. 25 and Oct. 1, 2024. Crime numbers dropped by 20.9 per cent from the week before.

Last Saturday, September 28 was the busiest day, with seven reported incidents. Bronte residents reported most crimes in this period (six in total.)

In addition, seven incidents of vehicle theft as well as seven incidents of hit & run via motor vehicles throughout the neighbourhood were reported. 

Over the past seven days, Halton Police responded to three bicycle thefts in Oakville. If this rate stayed consistent, there would be 144 incidents a year. Over the last 30 days, there have been 45 cases of property damage valued under $5,000.

Over the last six months, 186 instances of bicycle theft in Oakville were reported. In the past year, there were 261.
