Man charged with attempted murder after woman stabbed at Oakville GO station

Police say a 23 year old suspect has been charged with attempted murder and breach of probation.

A female victim was sent to the hospital yesterday after what police believe was a random attack at the Oakville GO station.

On Sunday Oct. 6, 2024, at approximately 12:50 p.m. police were called to the Oakville GO transit station located at 214 Cross Avenue for reports of a stabbing.

Police say an adult female victim was stabbed in the back with a knife and transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police located a suspect near the scene of the stabbing and placed him under arrest.

Matthew Valley, a 23-year-old male of no fixed address, has been charged with attempted murder and breach of probation.

Police say the victim is not known to the accused and investigators believe this to be a random attack.

The accused was held in custody by police pending a bail hearing in Milton.
