Oakville man among two arrested in construction site theft

Two men have been arrested in connection to a break-in at a Milton construction site.

Halton police’s media officer, Const. Jeff Dillon, said police received a report at 10:36 a.m. on Tuesday July 9, 2024, of two men removing windows from a storage trailer at 80 Bronte Street and placing them into a U-Haul truck.

Police attended the scene and arrested both men.

Following an investigation, it was determined that the U-Haul truck had been stolen from within Halton.

A 51-year-old from Oakville and a 38-year-old from Toronto have been charged with break and enter, possession of break-in instruments, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and mischief over $5,000.

The charges have not been tested in court.

Both were released on a promise to appear and are scheduled for their first appearance at Milton court in August.
