An Oakville man is facing an assault charge after a bottle was thrown into a crowd on the University of Guelph campus back in September.
Police say early morning on Saturday, Sept. 28, a first-year student attended a large outdoor gathering on campus.
At approximately 2:30 a.m. another male threw a large glass bottle into the air and towards the crowd, striking the victim in the head.
The victim sought medical attention on campus and then attended Guelph General Hospital, where he was told he had sustained a concussion and would require stitches.
Following investigation by the Campus Safety Office and Guelph Police Service, an 18-year-old Oakville man – who is not a university student – was arrested this week for assault causing bodily harm.
The outdoor party is believed to be related to the Univerity's homecoming weekend, though was not organized or endoresed by the campus or University of Guelph.
