York Regional Police have arrested a man and woman following an alleged shooting at a night club in Vaughan on June 29, 2024.
Police say officers responded to reports of gunfire at an adult entertainment venue near Rivermede and Bowes Road in Vaughan at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2024.
According to York Police Constable James Dickson, "When officers arrived, they found evidence of gun shots near the main entrance."
Although the club was occupied, no injuries were reported.
On July 4, 2024, police arrested suspects Noel Francis, 36, of Courtice, and Payton Higgs, 22, of Oakville. The following day, search warrants were executed in Courtice and Oakville, resulting in the recovery of a firearm.
According to police, Higgs was charged with the following:
- Accessory to Discharge Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
- Possession of an Unauthorized Firearm
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
- Operate Motor Vehicle While Prohibited
Francis was also charged with:
- Discharge Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of an Unauthorized Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
- Possession of Loaded Restricted Firearm
- Careless Storage
- Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition x2
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
Investigators are urging witnesses who have not yet spoken with police or anyone with dashcam footage from the area to come forward.
