Oakville woman accused of impaired driving with infant in back seat

Police say they discovered that an Oakville woman had an infant child secured in the back seat of the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop, when she was believed to be impaired.

A 27-year-old female driver from Oakville was charged with impaired driving and dangerous operation over the weekend. Police say they discovered that the woman had an infant child secured in the back seat of the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop.

On Saturday, April 27, 2024, just before 3:40 p.m., the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received several traffic complaints regarding erratic driving behaviour from a vehicle described as a grey Mercedes.

Brant County OPP successfully located the vehicle, initiating a traffic stop on Paris Links Road, west of Heming Street in Brant, Ontario.

Upon further investigation, officers allege that the female driver, a 27-year-old from Oakville, was operating the vehicle while impaired. Officers also discovered that an infant child was secured in a child seat in the back seat of the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop.

The driver has been charged with the following offences:

  • Dangerous operation
  • Operation while impaired BAC over 80
  • Operation while impaired by alcohol
  • Drive-handheld communication device
