Halton Police have made an arrest after a home invasion took place in Oakville.
Police say they were called to a residence on Greeneagle Drive on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024 at around 4:50 a.m. According to police, three suspects forced the front door of the residence open, with one of them being armed with a handgun.
The suspects then allegedly demanded the resident inside for keys to their parked vehicles outside. Police say the resident was punched multiple times and sustained a broken nose.
Police say they were able to arrest one of the suspects when called to the scene after a short foot chase.
A 23-year-old man from Oshweken has been charged with robbery with a firearm, break and enter, disguise with intent, fail to comply- being on a release order and possession of firearm contrary to prohibition order as a result of the incident.
According to Halton Regional Police Service Chief Stephen Tanner, the 23-year-old was on a release order from Niagara Police for three counts of stolen property with the condition that he could not possess any weapons since Oct. 12, 2024.
The suspect has also been convicted for 25 other offences, which include possession of a firearm, theft of a vehicle and arson, Tanner says.
"Our citizens should not have their personal safety and the security of their own property threatened by violent and repeat offenders who are out on bail, and who are bound by court orders to which they have no intention of complying with," Tanner said in a news release.
Halton Police say they are still in search for two suspects as a result of the incident.
