Halton Police stop dangerous drivers

Halton Police have been active on the streets of Oakville, stopping several drivers for various offences over this past week.

On May 1, Halton Police's Oakville District Response Unit stopped the driver of a grey Kia on Dundas Street after allegedly spotting a child on the passenger's lap.

According to a post from Halton Police on X (formerly Twitter), the passenger who was holding the child was also allegedly not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver and passenger were charged, though police did not release the details of those charges.

On the same day, officers stopped the driver of a green motorcycle on Upper Middle Road.

Halton Police say the driver's plate was flipped up, violating the traffic rule that all plates must be visible.

The driver was charged for an obstructed license plate.

Finally, on May 2, police stopped a driver for going 90km/h in a 60km/h zone. Both passengers were said to have been caught not wearing seatbelts.

Halton Police say the driver's speeds "could have had catastrophic results in a collision."
