QEW crash leaves motorcyclist with life-altering injuries

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking information from the public, following a serious collision involving a motorcycle and a van which failed to remain at the scene.

On Oct. 22, 2024 shortly after 6:15 p.m. members of the OPP Burlington detachment were dispatched to a serious collision on the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW), west bound, before Dorval Drive, Oakville.

It was reported that a van had collided with a motorcycle and the driver of the van did not remain at the scene. The driver of the motorcycle, a 47-year-old from Oakville, was transported to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries, which have since been downgraded to life-altering.

Members of the Highway Safety Division's (HSD) Traffic Support Unit (TSU) are assisting with the investigation. Two west bound lanes of the QEW, east of Dorval Drive were closed for approximately three hours. All lanes were re-opened approximately 11:20 p.m.

The investigation into this collision is ongoing and officers are asking for witnesses who may seen the incident or may have dashcam footage to call the OPP Burlington Detachment at 1-888-310-1122 and refer to incident number E241418198.
