UPDATE:
A passenger vehicle crashed into a construction boom vehicle at approximately 4 a.m. on the 403 eastbound at Waterdown Road.
The driver of the boom was taken to hospital with serious injuries, but the driver of the passenger vehicle was not injured, Ontario Provincial Police wrote in a statement.
This is an ongoing investigation, and police will provide more details when they become available.

A road worker is in critical condition in hospital after being struck by a vehicle overnight on the 403 eastbound at Waterdown Road.
The collision happened just after 4 a.m.
The patient was transported to hospital. Ontario Provincial Police closed all lanes of the highway to investigate.
