Halton Regional Police are investigating the theft of a Toyota Highlander that was stolen overnight from a residential driveway in Oakville.

The vehicle, which was taken between Feb. 26 and 27, was parked at a home near the intersection of Oakmead Boulevard and Wembley Road, a residential area, police say.

The stolen vehicle was recovered by Peel Regional Police in Brampton on Feb. 27, 2025.  though no arrests have been made, and there are no suspect descriptions available at this time.

Halton Police have offered several tips to help prevent vehicle theft:

  • Always lock your vehicle, even if you are only leaving it for a short time.
  • Never leave valuables in plain sight. Items like electronics, bags, or even loose change can attract thieves.
  • Consider installing an anti-theft device, such as a steering wheel lock or a car alarm, to deter potential thieves.
  • Use a vehicle immobilizer or GPS tracking system to make recovery easier if your car is stolen.
  • Park in well-lit, busy areas whenever possible, and be aware of your surroundings when leaving your vehicle.
