Woman arrested following firearms investigation in Oakville

One female suspect was taken into custody by police yesterday after a firearms investigation in south Oakville.

At around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024, police were called to a home in the area of Lakeshore Road West and Belvedere Drive for reports of firearms observed inside a residence.

According to Halton Police Media Relations Officer Jeff Dillon, an investigation was undertaken to determine whether or not the firearm was real.

There was a heavy police presence in the area which residents were asked to avoid at around 12:46 p.m. yesterday.

As of 2:50 p.m. yesterday, police were still unsure whether or not the firearm was real as they awaited a search warrant to enter the home.

At 6:38 p.m., the officer presence scaled back but the investigation continued into the evening.
