Investigators are looking into the possibility that two Oakville incidents are connected due to the nature of the offences and their close proximity to each other.

On July 16, 2013 at 2:30 a.m., a lone 27-year-old woman was walking through the Morrison Valley Ravine, located between White Oaks Boulevard and Lambeth Road in Oakville. An unknown man approached her from behind, attempted to engage her in conversation and subsequently touched her inappropriately.

The suspect was described as light skinned, 20-23 years of age, 5’8”, clean shaven with short dark brown or black hair and a slim build.  He was wearing a long-sleeved dark shirt and pants with a dark baseball hat.

On August 23, 2013 at 10:00 a.m., a 21-year-old woman was walking the trails behind Sheridan College when she was attacked from behind by an unknown man.  The man touched her inappropriately and pushed her to the ground in an effort to continue the assault.  The woman fought off her attacker who subsequently fled on foot.

The suspect was described as white, 25-30 years of age, 5’4”, with blond hair, possibly facial hair and an average build.  He was wearing a dark blue plaid jacket, hoodie and sunglasses.

Police are continuing their investigation into both these occurrences and remind the public of the following prevention tips when walking:

• Walk with a purpose
• Be alert and attentive to your surroundings at all times
• Avoid unlit streets and shortcuts through parks and/or vacant lots
• If you suspect your are being followed, cross the street, scream if necessary
