Celebrity chef David Adjey will be ‘going to the dogs’ on Thursday May 16th when he hosts a Long Table Dinner at Whole Foods Market in Oakville.   David, who has an extraordinary culinary career, including hosting Food Network television shows, owning his own incredible restaurant in Toronto, ‘Nectar’, going head to head with Iron Chef Michael Symon and working in the top restaurants in New York and in Europe,  will be creating the menu and acting as executive chef and host for the evening.

Whole Foods Market is providing the venue and very best ingredients for the evening, as they turn their café into a private long table dining room for just 50 guests. The Long Table Dinners at Whole Food Market are unique to the Oakville location and are the brainchild of France Fournier, Marketing & Communications for the store. Fundraising events for local charities, the Long Table Dinners are held a few times a year and the Oakville & Milton Humane Society is very excited to be chosen as the charity of choice for this dinner. “We are thrilled to partner with our good neighbours the Oakville &Milton Humane Society.   Our Long Table Dinners are a celebration of good food, good friends and community.  It’s a fun evening and raises important funds for the Shelter” said France.

The idea of having celebrity chef David Adjey host the dinner occurred when the Oakville Milton Humane Society, reached out to David Adjey, having heard he was a dog lover. He sent an email, explaining what makes Oakville/Milton shelter different, about our commitment to the animals in our care and asking for his help with the Long Table Dinner.  David responded quickly with an “I’m in, how can I help?” and the idea of a ‘Goin’ To The Dogs’ dinner was born.

The Long Table Dinner also includes a very special silent auction of paintings of shelter animals created by the students of West Credit Secondary School in Mississauga. The students, are all from an art class for those differently abled, who have done paintings for the OMHS before, always with spectacular results! In addition there will be a live auction of a painting by the OMHS resident ‘Kit-casso’, Ben the little orphaned Bengal cross kitten that has created so much interest on Facebook. Ben will be putting paw and tail to canvas to create a one-of-a-kind painting that will be auctioned at the event.

“We are so very grateful to Whole Foods Market, David Adjey and the students of West Credit Secondary School for coming together to raise much needed funds for our shelter” said Kim Millan, Executive Director for the Oakville & Milton Humane Society. “It will be an unforgettable night of incredible food, great stories from David’s years as a chef and beautiful artwork, all to help the animals of our community.”

One hundred percent of the proceeds from this very special night for the animals will be donated to the Oakville & Milton Humane Society. Tickets are $150 each (with a portion of the ticket price eligible for a charitable tax receipt) and may be purchased at the Oakville & Milton Humane Society, 445 Cornwall Road, Oakville. A limited number of tickets will be available at Whole Foods Market, 301 Cornwall Road, Oakville.
