Do you like to read? Do you like supporting a good cause? Do you like cheap DVD’s, CD’s, biographies, children’s books, paperbacks, fiction and non-fictions, hard covers, spiritual books, and cookbooks?
The Friends of the Library Oakville Branch has all these and more at their annual book sale, held in Oakville at the main branch library at 120 Navy Street. The sale runs until April 14. Albert Darimont, the book sale coordinator and a member of the Friends of the Library executive board, says that every cent that is made from the sale goes towards Oakville’s libraries.
“We have two sales a year, one in April and one in November, and each of those sales makes about $10,000. All of the money that we make goes into the library's various programs and projects, such as their recent pilot project with e-readers.”Darimont suggested for those who want the first look at donated books, activity updates, and exclusive first-day access to sales, to buy a Friends of the Library membership for $10. All membership fees also go towards the Oakville library.
Friends of the Library is completely volunteer-run. If you would like to help out Friends of the Library, Darimont suggests donating old books, coming out to the sales, becoming a member or volunteering with the organization.
