March Break Camps: Oakville Recreation & Culture

Oakville's Recreation and Culture is offering March Break programs to suit any taste: arts, adventure, athletics and more! Choose a week-long camp or mix it up with a day-by-day program. Click on a link below for more information and to register online.

Remember: March Break registration for residents opens January 1, and January 14 for non-residents!

Beetle Bugs, Bonanza, and Break Out camps

The extremely popular Beetle Bugs (ages 4-5), Bonanza (ages 6-9), and Break Out (ages 10-13) camps will be back at Glen Abbey Community CentreBefore and After Care is also available at this location for an additional fee (separate registration is required).

Register for individual days or join us for the whole week! Although subject to change, scheduled on-site guests and off-ground activities are as follow:

Eco-Art Camp

The Eco-Art Camp (ages 8-12) at Iroquois Ridge Community Centre is a week-long program combining art projects with nature activities. Children will enjoy field trips, learning more about the environment, and daily swimming. Program runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Hands on History at Oakville Museum

Oakville Museum invites you to get your Hands on History (ages 6-10) during March Break. Using the museum's art collection as inspiration, travel through the ages and experience art from prehistoric to modern times! Explore your creative side with a different time period each day:

Each program runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with Before and After Care (8:30-9 a.m. and 4-4:30 p.m.) available for an additional fee, separate registration required.

Hockey Camp at River Oaks Community Centre

This Hockey Camp is offered for three age groups: Tykes (ages 5-7), Juniors (ages 8-10), and Seniors (ages 11-13) at River Oaks Community Centre. Ideal for the new player or novice hockey star. A chance to learn new skills and improve on others. One hour of on-ice and one hour of off-ice instruction each day together with other sports. Due to registration numbers ages may be combined. Full hockey equipment required. Before and after care (7:30-9 a.m. and 4-6 p.m.) is included!

Hockey Skills with the Oakville Blades

Step your game up a notch at the Hockey Skills with the Oakville Blades camp at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex. Enjoy on-ice training from the Oakville Blades coaches and players, including power skating and skill development, all while enjoying a fun camp environment. A specialized Goalie campand Before and After Care (separate registration and fee apply) is also available. Full equipment is required and a hot lunch is provided. Ages: 7-12.

March Break Studio Art Programs at QEPCCC

Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre, offers a unique Spring Break setting for you! Enjoy a day of creativity and experimentation in one of these great programs.

Studio Art Muses (ages 4-7) and Masters (ages 8-12) will get creative and active. Don't forget your running shoes! Before and After Care (7:30-9 a.m. and 4-6 p.m.) is included. Each day has a different theme:

  • Monday, March 11 - Magnificent Masterpieces
  • Tuesday, March 12 - Crafty Kids (Fibre Arts Studio)
  • Wednesday, March 13 - Sculptures and Structures
  • Thursday, March 14 - Perfect Prints
  • Friday, March 15 - Digital Discoveries

Explore hand building techniques, decorate and paint clay objects in the Play with Clay program (ages 8-12). Offered on Monday, March 11 or Tuesday, March 12. Ages 8-12. Before and after care (7:30-9 a.m. and 4-6 p.m.) is included!

March Break Workshops at River Oaks Community Centre

Babysitter Training (ages 11-14) is a one-day workshop offered in partnership with the Canadian Red Cross. Program runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Choose from Monday, March 11 or Tuesday, March 12.

Do your toys have a secret life of their own? Catch them on camera at the Toymation Workshop (ages 6-8) and bring home a DVD as proof! Lights Camera Action Educate staff will show you how to use stop motion videography, add sound effects, voice-overs and music to create your very own movie featuring your favourite toy. This program is offered on Wednesday, March 13, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Construct original characters and scenes out of clay, then bring it all to life in your own blockbuster stop motion film at this Claymation Workshop (ages 9-12). Staff from Lights Camera Action Educate will show you how to use cutting edge video cameras and laptop computers to create your very own DVD. This program is offered on Thursday, March 14, 8:30 a.m-4:30 p.m.

I Have to See That! is a one-day workshop (ages 9-12) using cameras, tripods and MacBooks. Staff from Lights Camera Action Educate will show you how to use filming and editing techniques to get your audience's attention and keep it! This program runs Friday, March 15, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Great programs are also being offered at Bronte Youth Centre for youth (ages 13-18) to get out and have fun!
