Picking my favourite restaurant in Oakville is similar to picking a favourite sweater. It depends on what I'm looking for. Am I in the mood for comfort food, or am I looking to take my wife out on a date? The response for the most part is different.
There are three restaurants in Oakville that are my go to. Kerr Street Cafe is my favourite Oakville restaurant when I want to have a great cup of coffee and breakfast. Maro's Bistro is when I'm looking for a delicious meal that isn't going to break the bank; and finally if I'm looking for that perfect meal for a special occasion such as a birthday I will always choose Hexagon Restaurant.
My favourite Oakville restaurants have three things in common: Food Quality, Atmosphere and Service.
Food Quality
The food at each of these restaurants is freshly prepared. If there is something that needs to be changed they can do it. Their meals are not pre-assembled.
Atmosphere
I'm not a big one for cookie cutter restaurants, so you'll notice that my list doesn't include any chain restaurants. The atmosphere for each restaurant is unique. Kerr Street Cafe is primarily white with polished concrete floors, while Maro's is decorated with rough woods and his signature hats. On the other side of the spectrum is Hexagon with its polished and elegant high end finishes.
Service
Good service is likely one of the hardest things to achieve for any restaurant, because finding great waiters, bartenders, and hosts is incredibly difficult. Each of these restauranteurs have managed to keep the majority of staff, and each of these people are excellent at their jobs. They say hi when you walk in the door, they can comfortably talk about any item on the menu, and if there is an issue they resolve it quickly.
Everyone has different tastes and styles. Just checking out TripAdvisor's or Yelp's list of Oakville Restaurants proves that point. However, I'm always on the look out for great restaurants to try out, so let me know if you've come across a new one.
