April 19th 2017 is National Canadian Film Day, billed as the largest film festival in the world, is being celebrated across the town of Oakville with various events both private and open to the public today. Of the 13 listed events today, 5 of them extend an open invitation to the public. And best of all? All screenings and events in Oakville are free.

National Canadian Film Day was an initiative started in 2014, though it's been widely advertised this year as an event with Canada's 150th birthday this summer. There are over 1,700 events across Canada today, and hundreds more internationally. There's also more than 150 movies being shown today, a number that's not coincidental.

You can read a full list of all the events across town today here, but know that any listed as a private event are strictly closed to anybody not on the guest list. (Some are also in private locations.) Large events are open to the general public, with screenings at varied times and venues. Each title also describes where you can find more information about a particular film, and ticket information (if applicable.)
