North Film co. is planting its roots in Oakville, Ontario for their first short feature film being shot in the town where they have relocated their new home office.

They will be filming their 30 minute shote, The Meaning of Life, April 10th to 14th with a Gemini award -winning cast and crew, including pop sensation and Juno nominee Tyler Shaw, who is making his acting debut. Fans will recognize Shaw from his recents hits which are enjoying frequent rotation on the Pop and Top 40 radio stations across North America: Wicked, By My Side, Kiss Goodnight, House of Cards and It Happens All The Time.

Based on a true story, The Meaning of Life follows the tale of a talented starving artist Finn Faber (Tyler Shaw), who gets a temporary job as a therapeutic clown at a hospital, entertaining children. The hospital assigns him to meet with 9 year-old Sophia Hill (Sadie Munroe) every Wednesday. He soon learns that being assigned to Sophia is more than a coincidence.

The 30-munite short will be submitted to the Toronto International Film Festival and Sundance Film Festival. Of note is the 25-year old director Cat Hostick who with her partner and Director of Photography, Russ De Jong founded North Film Co. in 2015 and have produced over 15 projects this past year. The Meaning of Life is being shot exclusively in Oakville at the now stripped down Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on Reynolds with a crew of 40.
