Couldn’t make it to the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) last week? No need to worry. Monday Night at the Movies was there and they’re bringing some of the festival’s most engaging international and Canadian films to Oakville.
Monday Night at the Movies is an independent, not-for-profit film festival, run by volunteers, that operates in partnership with Film Circuit, a division of TIFF.
“Our mission is to provide film lovers with an opportunity to see great international films they may not otherwise enjoy access to. We’re like the Oakville branch of TIFF,” said Monday Night at the Movies Chair, Clare Henderson. “Each year, we are provided with TIFF’s programming schedule and an opportunity to preview a selection of the films. We work very hard to select a diverse mix of Canadian and international comedies, dramas and documentaries, and we look forward to sharing these fantastic films with our audience.”
"Films from both the 2014 and 2015 film festival will be included in this season’s programming," he said.
The Oakville-based Monday Night at the Movies started their 10th season on September 7 with the screening of the U.K. film, *A Brilliant Young Mind*.
Films are shown every other Monday, September to April at the Cineplex Winston Churchill Cinemas, with a short break during the Christmas season. All screenings begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased beginning at 6:45 p.m. in the lobby for $10.00 each, cash only.
The next film on the roster is the poignant Israeli film, *Dancing Arabs* which screens this Monday, September 28.
Kicking off each feature film is a short animated film from graduates of Sheridan College’s animation program.
