More than 1,000 people came out to support OTMH Sunset Cinema, a first-time event for Oakville Hospital Foundation. Held at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex the event was to raise awareness and funds for the new Oakville Hospital currently under construction in the Dundas Road and Third Line area.
“It was absolutely thrilling to meet so many people that evening and tell them about how our new Hospital will improve the way we care for them and their families,” said Tina Triano, CEO of the Oakville Hospital Foundation. “Community support is needed to purchase vital medical equipment for our healthcare team and many people we spoke to were surprised to hear that the government funds a mere fraction of the equipment and technology our hospital needs.”
Thanks to contributions from sponsors, $30,000 net was raised to help fund equipment for the new Hospital. OTMH Sunset Cinema was presented by Oak-Land Ford and supported by sponsors RBC, Holcim, Swagelock, McDonald’s, Birch Hill Equity Partners, Shred-It, Rotherglen, Invidiata Team, the Lighting Centre, Maxxum Analytics, Tiny Hearts 3-D Ultrasound Glen Oaks Funeral Home, Blazing the Agency, and Longo’s.
In addition to the feature presentation of E.T., families enjoyed numerous children’s activities, free iced coffee from McDonald’s, giveaways from Oak-Land, and supported the hospital by purchasing food from the concession stands. As well, the audience saw a fly-through video of the new Hospital and heard a touching testimonial from grateful patient Cari MacLean.

“I brought my family to OTMH Sunset Cinema for a fun evening and left feeling excited about what this new hospital will mean to me and everyone in Oakville,” said Oakville resident Mike Frenke. “You can’t help but feel proud to have a hospital like this close to home. It made me want to do whatever I can to support it.”
