Oakville’s community cinema Film.ca Cinemas is excited to announce that it will be screening the much-talked-about comedy THE INTERVIEW at its Oakville cinema starting on Friday January 2nd.

THE INTERVIEW is an action-comedy starring Seth Rogen and James Franco as a pair of television personalities who land an interview with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, and are then recruited by the CIA to assassinate him. It is Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s directorial follow-up to 2013’s THIS IS THE END.

THE INTERVIEW has attracted much attention and controversy since it was announced. Originally scheduled for international wide release on December 25th, it was pulled after hackers threatened theatres showing the film, and major American and Canadian cinema chains refused to open it. After a coalition of American independent cinemas pushed Sony to let them show the film on its original release date, it was released in about 100 U.S. theatres on Christmas Day, as well as made available for streaming and purchase online.

Sony has held off on releasing THE INTERVIEW theatrically in Canada until January 2nd, and Film.ca Cinemas is proud to be one of only about 30 cinemas in the country that will take part in playing the film at this time, and at this time the only cinema in the Hamilton to Mississauga corridor.

We are proud to join our fellow independent cinemas to show The Interview. Whether or not you like this genre of film, we believe it has a right to be seen and enjoyed as it is merely entertainment and not a political statement.

Shows will run January 2-3 and January 6th at 2:20, 4:45, 7:20 and 9:45, and January 4-5 and 7-8 at 2:20, 4:45 and 7:20. Tickets are available in theatre or online at film.ca.
