Be the first to witness the development of a new folk musical about one of Canada’s enduring heroes. The Canadian Music Theatre Project presents MARATHON OF HOPE, based on the incredible true story of Terry Fox. In the summer of 1980, Terry ran across Canada, a marathon every day to raise money for cancer research and captured the heart of the nation in the process. After 143 days, Terry was forced to end his run when his cancer returned. He passed away on June 28, 1981 at 22 years of age.

See a professional cast of actors, in our “theatrical laboratory”, develop this exciting new work. MARATHON OF HOPE is presented in collaboration with the family of Terry Fox.

SHARRON MATTHEWS:  FULL DARK

Will be performed from November 21 to 30, 2013 in the Studio Theatre.

What happens when Canada’s most traveled, “Best Cabaret Performer” assembles a full band and, armed with her own brand of comedy and pathos, takes a walk on the scarier side of the street? FULL DARK, expands Sheridan alumni Sharron Matthew’s signature, award winning style to delve into the darker sides of storytelling. Using the music of Elton John, Rihanna, Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Cash, Beyonce and the Righteous Brothers, Sharron creates an evening of ‘songologues’ about growing up fatherless, about being bullied, about sexuality and danger, the unacceptable, and the unexplained. This is a not-to-be-missed creation provided by one of Canada’s foremost entertainers.

MICKEY & JUDY

Will be performed from December 3 to 7, 2013 in the Studio Theatre and was created by and is starring Michael Hughes.

MICKEY & JUDY is a hilarious pseudo-memoir, chronicling Sheridan alumni Hughes’ childhood obsession with musicals and his journey from the psychiatric ward to Off-Broadway. Chock-full of comical anecdotes about his childhood spent channeling Judy Garland, dramatic readings from his actual doctor’s charts, and a musical score that borrows from Broadway classics and the Judy Garland songbook, MICKEY & JUDY is about learning to accept yourself and following your dreams. Since its world premiere at the 2011 Toronto Fringe Festival, MIKEY & JUDY has performed across North America and Internationally to sold-out audiences and rave five-star reviews.
