I wasn't actually sure where I should put this article, but figured "Where to Eat" makes sense - since Organic Garage does provide prepared meals for take out. Organic Garage is my go to grocery store for all high quality produce at reasonable prices. They opened their doors in 2006 after Matt Lurie recognized the incredible mark up leveled on healthy food - especially organic. He decided with the help of his mother and sister to open up their first store in Oakville. He chose to open in what was originally an organic health food and products store that had gone out of business.The values instilled into the Lurie family originated from his Polish great grandparents who open up their grocery store on College Street in 1931. His great grandfather's motto was: "We sell for Less" and now the motto has become "We Sell Healthier for Less". I have to agree that a trip to Organic Garage is a great deal less expensive, than it is at his competitors. In fact most of his suppliers are exactly the same - but since he is dedicated to providing excellent product for less - it hurts less at the register.

Organic Garage has actually expanded a couple of times since its start, and substantial remodelled just last year. I find that there is very little that I cannot find from all different types of fruits, to meats & poultry, as well as dried goods. The staff is extremely helpful, especially Roc the butcher - who was kind enough to explain that organic meats take longer to cook - because they aren't injected with water. Thanks Roc. If they don't have what you are looking for make a suggestion - they'll do what you can to help you out. The only downside of the store is the weak selection of cheese.So how does Organic Garage keep its prices down - no advertising and great word of mouth community support.
