During the overnight hours of August 17th, 28th and September 7, 2019, there were 31 thefts from motor vehicles and three break and enters into garages in the Town of Oakville.

Members of the Halton Regional Police Service – Street Crime Unit commenced an investigation into the incidents.

On Wednesday, September 11, 2019 members of 2 District Street Crime Unit were granted a judicial authorization to execute a Criminal Code search warrant in the City of Brampton. As a result of the search warrant, Detectives seized suspected stolen property, a set of brass knuckles, a handgun and a magazine with ammunition.

Police have arrested a 31 year-old man from Brampton.

The suspect has been charged with:

  1. Theft under $5000 (7 counts)
  2. Break and enter with intent (2 counts)
  3. Possession of property obtained by crime (3 counts)
  4. Unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm
  5. Possession of a restricted firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
  6. Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition
  7. Tampering with a serial number
  8. Carless storage of a firearm
  9. Possession of a prohibited weapon
  10. Possession of a prohibited weapon knowing the possession is unauthorized

He was held for a bail hearing.
