As the Progressive Conservative incumbent for Oakville North-Burlington, Effie Triantafilopoulos is running on a strong record of action and  believes there’s no room for pause. She says, “Under Doug Ford’s leadership, Ontario has made great strides, and I’ve been right there working hard to ensure our community benefits from lower taxes, good jobs, and investments in hospitals and infrastructure. What matters to families is affordable living, safe streets, quality healthcare, and opportunities that help businesses thrive.”

As a seasoned business leader and advocate, Effie has worked with Canadian companies to create jobs and expand trade. She’s served in leadership roles with the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters Association, the Canada-U.S. Business Association and Ontario Exports Inc.

Delivering Better Healthcare

Doug Ford’s government has been making the largest investments in Ontario’s healthcare system in a generation.  It has invested $1.8 billion to connect every Ontarian with family doctor. Nearly $50 billion is being invested in building and upgrading hospitals and adding more beds.

Effie says, “Our government has been leading the largest medical school expansion in a decade to train more doctors. We’ve allowed pharmacists to diagnose and treat common ailments. Already, over 2 million Ontarians have gotten quick, effective care from their pharmacist.”

Meanwhile, in Halton, Effie says, “Our government invested $138 million in Halton Healthcare, including $69 million for Joseph Brant Hospital’s new Mental Health Unit. I advocated to secure a new MRI machine at Joseph Brant and for substantial upgrades in emergency services across Halton Region. We’ve created 1,153 new and redeveloped long-term care beds for complex needs patients in Oakville North-Burlington. I’m focused on delivering results that matter to our community.”

Building Ontario’s Economy

Ontario’s economy is booming and under Doug Ford’s leadership the province has become a top destination for investment, jobs, and growth. Effie says, “In just a few years, our government has secured over $45 billion in new investments, bringing the first-ever electric vehicle and battery plants to Canada. It means more jobs, a stronger auto industry, and a greener future right here in Ontario.”

More than $200 billion is being invested in building infrastructure, roads, highways, and public transit to keep people and goods moving. Effie says, “Our government invested nearly $17 million in Burlington Transit and $22 million in Oakville Transit for new diesel, electric, and hybrid buses.

And for those looking to start a rewarding career, over $1.5 billion has been committed to train 600,000 workers in skilled trades, setting them up for better jobs and bigger paycheques. Effie says, “One of my top priorities is to ensure significant investments in education. In Halton Region, we have built five new schools and one school expansion, creating nearly 4,600 student spaces and than 350 childcare spaces. This is how to build a strong economy; by investing in people, jobs and the future. And Ontario is just getting started.”

Protecting Workers

President Donald Trump’s tariffs are about to hit Ontario’s economy like a wrecking ball. With industries like auto manufacturing, steel, and aluminum hanging in the balance, thousands of jobs could be on the line. Effie says, “We will do whatever it takes to protect jobs and keep our economy strong. That means investing tens of billions of dollars to ensure workers stay employed and businesses stay afloat. Companie will get the support they need to retool and pivot towards new markets.”

Beyond just damage control, Doug Ford’s plan is about long-term prosperity. Infrastructure projects will create jobs and lay the foundation for a stronger economy while workers facing job losses will get retrained for new opportunities in growing industries. Effie adds, “Trump’s tariffs may be a storm on the horizon, but Ontario is not facing it unprepared. Our province is fighting back and will emerge stronger than ever.”

Keeping Ontario Competitive

A Doug Ford government will continue to fight the job-killing carbon tax. Effie says, “Scrapping this tax means lower prices at the pump, cheaper energy bills, and more money in people’s pockets. Extending the gas tax cut has saved drivers an average of $380 a year. License plate sticker fees have been eliminated. And to help with rising costs, we deliver $400 cheques to every Ontarian.”

Business taxes have been lowered by $8 billion annually and cutting unnecessary regulation has saved businesses another $1 billion. Doug Ford’s team is pushing Ottawa to slash red tape and speed up approvals for major projects. That includes fast-tracking the construction of new and upgraded nuclear power plants and unlocking the vast potential of the critical minerals in the Ring of Fire. Effie says, “Ontario is on track to be the most competitive place to invest, work, and create jobs.”

Cleaning Up Our Streets

Real action to keep communities safe. Effie says, “No parent should have to worry about a drug injection site popping up near their child’s school or daycare and that’s why our government banned them from sensitive areas.”

Public parks should be for individuals and families, not encampments. A Progressive Conservative government  would continue investing in shelters while ensuring parks remain safe and accessible for everyone. And when it comes to violent and repeat criminals, Doug Ford is cracking down, ensuring dangerous offenders stay behind bars by building new jails.
