Laureate College has long been recognized for its commitment to academic excellence and innovation, and now, with the launch of its elementary program, families have even more opportunities to benefit from its holistic approach to education. Under the leadership of Principal Robert Hamilton, Laureate College Junior School is set to offer an enriched learning experience that combines STEM subjects with music, languages, and visual arts.

Meeting the Needs of the Community

The decision to introduce an elementary program was driven by the needs of local families. "Laureate College provides camps for hundreds of children during March Break and the summer months," explains Hamilton. "Many parents have shared that their children enjoy the experiences we provide and expressed a desire for a similarly rich elementary school experience. They want their children to be challenged in both the sciences and the arts."

To meet these expectations, Laureate College designed an elementary STEAM program that offers a balanced approach to academics and extracurricular activities. "Dr. Shen hired me to design a program that provides enrichment in STEM subjects while also offering opportunities for music, languages, and visual arts," says Hamilton. "My plan is to fully integrate visual arts into problem-solving activities and reflect the STEAM approach. In a year or two, I hope that Laurate College Junior School will serve as a model for other schools who want to provide this type of program. We are now accepting registrations with a tuition rate that is better than most other schools."

Enhancing the School Community

Expanding into elementary education offers significant benefits for students and parents alike. "Just imagine dropping off your child at a school where they receive a challenging STEM education and access to extracurricular lessons, all in one location," Hamilton says. "From preschool to Grade 12, we will provide opportunities and convenience at a reasonable cost. We want to offer everything parents need under one roof."

This approach eliminates the need for families to juggle multiple locations for education and extracurricular activities, creating a seamless and stress-free experience.

An Ideal Fit for Curious and Driven Students

Laureate’s elementary program is best suited for students who are eager to learn and thrive in an engaging academic environment. "Our students are not just recipients of a program—they are active participants in their education," Hamilton notes. "They take ownership of their learning, develop a deep understanding of their learning profiles, and embrace an inquiry-based approach."

The curriculum fosters higher-level thinking and problem-solving skills while incorporating environmental applications that allow students to connect their learning to the world around them. "Laureate College students are well-rounded learners," Hamilton adds.

What Sets Laureate College Elementary Apart

What truly differentiates Laureate College Junior School is its comprehensive, integrated approach to education. "At other schools, parents drop off their children for a standard academic day and then rush to various sites for additional lessons," Hamilton explains. "At Laureate College, this is not necessary. From preschool to Grade 12, students can spend the entire day on campus and receive lessons in music, visual arts, and dramatic arts after school."

Beyond academics, the school’s stunning natural setting further enhances the learning experience. "Our 50-acre property provides an ideal environment for reflection, leadership, and environmental applications of learning," says Hamilton. "The history of the building demands respect, and the vast and serene landscape makes this a truly special place."

A Vision for the Future

Hamilton brings over 35 years of experience in education and leadership to his role at Laureate College Elementary School. "Dr. Shen asked me to create a school that will provide children with the best possible learning experiences, and that is exactly what I intend to do," he affirms.

Parents who choose Laureate College for their children will find an engaged and collaborative school community. "I am highly approachable, and communication with families is ongoing," Hamilton assures. "We want parents to be informed and involved in their child’s progress."

With the expansion of Laureate College into elementary education, families now have access to an outstanding learning environment that nurtures curiosity, creativity, and academic excellence—all within one school. The future is bright for Laureate College students, and the journey begins now.
