The Oakville Community Foundation is adding a new twist to its annual GIVEOakville Charity Crowdfunding Campaign: a Charity Showcase. And you’re invited!
GIVEOakville is the Foundation’s online community granting program, where local charitable organizations can request up to $25,000. This year, the campaign runs from November 15 to December 9.
The Foundation covers all transaction fees, meaning 100% of donations go directly to the charity. On top of that, the Foundation provides a funding top-up to organizations that received support during the GIVEOakville campaign.
This funding is prorated, and only provided to organizations that do not receive full funding during the campaign. A percentage of the Foundation’s top up will be allocated to support organizations with a mandate to serve gender-equity communities and racialized communities, led by those they serve.
This year, the GIVEOakville Charity Crowdfunding Campaign has 64 charities looking for support. These charities will have representatives on hand to meet and answer questions, at the Charity Showcase.
“We decided it would be helpful for interested philanthropists to be able to talk to the people behind the charities, and learn more about the charities. So, we came up with the Charity Showcase,” said Oakville Community Foundation’s Senior Manager of Communications and Creative Services, Michael Salem.
He added, “It’s like a trade show for charities!”
The GIVEOakville Charity Showcase is happening November 17 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Appleby College, 540 Lakeshore Road West. There is free parking, and there will be entertainment and some light refreshments available.
Salem explained, “Drop in anytime! Admission is free, so everyone can attend and meet some of the incredible charities that are working to make Oakville a better community.”
