Beautiful Bronte Creek Provincial Park is the backdrop for VRPro’s 3rd Annual Bronte Creek Run/Walk in Oakville. It offers a 5K, 10K and 2K Mission Pawsible Walk featuring participants’ pets.

Race Director Kelly Arnott says “I’m really excited about this day. The Bronte Creek Run and Walk are a celebration of community, companionship, and compassion.”

The more 600 participants expected will be walking and running through lush greenery and winding trails. The event is not only a celebration of athleticism, it is also a demonstration of altruism by raising funds to support various community charities ad non-profit organizations.

Race Day

All race participants will be required to pay a park entrance fee of $18 cash per vehicle when they arrive at the gate. People are being encouraged to carpool and to come early. The park entry fee includes access to all the amenities. Those who have a provincial park season’s pass can enter for free.

Park gates open 8am and participants are asked to enter the park at the Day Use Area at 1219 Burloak Drive. Parking is available in park lot F.

Race organizers will be set up at the Breckon Shelter inside the park.

Race start times:

  • Mission Pawsible 2K begins at 10am
  • 5K and 10K begin at 10:45am

The runs will start and end at the Breckon Shelter.

The run/walk route will take participants through the gorgeous trails at Bronte Creek Provincial Park. The 5K will complete one loop of the park and the 10K will complete two loops of the park. Arnott says, “Back at the Breckon Shelter, participants will be served a bowl of delicious Stagg Chili. With the animals around, it’s going to be a fun event.”

When the races are finished participants can spend the rest of the day enjoying Bronte Creek Provincial Park which also includes a children’s farm with live farm animals and disc golf course.

Race Day Keepsakes

The Finisher’s Medal is clearly one of a kind. When the medal is opened up you can hear the sounds of meowing and barking, a memento of the Mission Pawsible Run. Everyone who registers will also receive a running belt. The top three runners in each age category will also receive a trophy.

Mission Pawsible 2K

The Mission Pawsible Run is an event highlight. Pet owners are not only welcomed but encouraged to bring their beloved companions along for the 2K journey. There is no registration fee but to participate, there is a minimum $25 donation to the Oakville Milton Humane society, an organization dedicated to protecting the welfare of animals within the community.

Arnott says, “Mission Pawsible is a celebration of the bond between humans and their pets, which for many are not only companions but cherished members of their families.” The fun-filled day is a celebration of the unconditional love our pets bring to our lives.

Run or walk this route to help raise funds for this important cause. Kelly Arnott adds, “This year we’ve added a special Rainbow Bridge tribute to honour the memories of beloved pets who are no longer with us but who have left an everlasting imprint on our hearts.” Anyone who raises over $100 for the OMHS will be entered into a draw for a chance to win 10 free class passes at Power Yoga Canada in Oakville.

*Pets are only permitted in the Mission Pawsible 2K walk. They are not permitted in the 5K or 10K runs.

Giving back to the community

Through the simple act of lacing up their running shoes and hitting the trails, participants can have a positive impact on their community. Individuals are being asked to donate to the Kerr Street Mission in Oakville, an organization which offers programs and services to individuals and families in need. The Kerr Street Mission is a gathering place and hub of care, including a food bank for those facing food insecurity.

The event is also raising funds for The Recovery Project which offers medical, financial, and emotional support to people struggling with eating disorders.

Race kit pickup

Race Kits can be picked up on,
