Environment Canada at 5:21 AM on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 issued a strong wind advisory for this afternoon and evening. It brings down all those colourful leaves.

Strong south-westerly winds with gusts up to 80 km/h are expected to develop this afternoon and continue into this evening. The strong winds are forecast to gradually weaken overnight.

The South-East wind changes direction to South-West, a 90 degree change. The intensity of the sustained winds increases from this morning’s 20 km/ hour to 47 km/hr by later this afternoon. Wind speeds will drop off slightly overnight, but remain strong until Wednesday afternoon.

The major issue is not the sustained winds but rather the wind gusts according to Environment Canada. These gusts are anticipated to reach 80 km/hr, which is slightly above the Weather Networks’ forecast of 71 km/hr.

So what might happen, loose structural damage may occur, such as roof shingles being blow off. This could cause a threat should someone be in the direct path of the shingle.

What will occur, the gorgeous fall leaves will be gone leaving barren trees. You’ll need to clear up your garden and bring those leaves to the curb for pick-up.
