Over 300 people from the business, labour, government and non-profit sectors helped kick off the town-wide United Way Oakville campaign by competing in the 4th Annual Bus Pull: Pull for Change. Twenty-two teams faced off against one another pulling two buses donated by Oakville Transit.

“This year’s campaign is about the magic behind community,” Sean O’Brien, President & CEO of Reliance Home Comfort and 2014 Campaign Chair commented. “Each year, thousands of people come together to make the extraordinary possible, and I’m thrilled to lead this year’s efforts.”

Congratulations to the 2014 Bus Pull Winner: The GE Water Warriors

Team GE Water Warriors finished with a winning time of 31.22 seconds, after a close match race with the Oakville Hydro Transformers.

Hats off to Paul Lukosius from TD Canada Trust who won the award for Top Fundraiser for the second year in a row! Team Proud to be Reliance was announced as the top fundraising team and Team RBC won the 2014 Spirit Award. The Community Living Oakville Conquerors won the Agency award, a new category recognizing United Way funded agencies.

“There’s always an infectious spirit in the air at this event, which continues to grow each year,” said Brad Park, CEO of United Way Oakville. “This year’s campaign will require the entire community to come together to ensure we can meet the need in our growing town.”
