Three Sheridan alumni have received Emmy nominations for their work on the television series The Handmaid’s Tale, Love, Death & Robots and Star Trek: Discovery.

Nominees for the 71st Emmy Awards, which recognize excellence in the television industry, were announced on July 16. The winners will be announced on September 22nd.

Emmy Nominations Recipients

Wendy Hallam Martin (Media Arts ’87) was nominated in the category of Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Drama Series for her work on The Handmaid’s Tale. She was recognized for her work on The Handmaid’s Tale last year, when she won an Emmy in the same category. She’s also won Canadian Cinema Editors Awards and American Cinema Editors Awards for her work on the series.

Craig Henighan (Media Arts ’95) received a nomination in the category of Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation for Love, Death & Robots. Henighan has won two Emmys in the category of Outstanding Sound Editing for a Series for his work on Stranger Things and, most recently, was nominated for an Academy Award for his Sound Mixing work on Roma.

Mahmoud Rahnama (Computer Animation ’04) will vie for the Outstanding Special Visual Effects Emmy for his work on Star Trek: Discovery. Rahnama has served as visual effects supervisor for series and feature films such as Mary Poppins Returns, The Fate of the Furious, Power Rangers and Marco Polo.

Sheridan grads were also part of the team to have worked on Schitt’s Creek, which is nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series, as well as Game of Thrones, up for Outstanding Drama Series. Animation alumni contributed to Simpsons and Come Along With Me (Adventure Time), which are vying for Outstanding Animated Program.

On September 16, 2018 two Sheridan College Alumni received Emmy Awards. They were Craig Henighan and Wendy Hallam.
