On Thursday, November 3, 2016, at 11:30 a.m., the Halton Regional Police responded to an assault at White Oaks Secondary School, located on Montclair Drive in Oakville in the community of College Park.

A student (young person which is the new term of juvenile) and a school staff member became involved in a heated discussion. The young person allegedly assaulted the staff member and uttered threats. Another student, an 18 year old male became involved along with another staff member. The 18 year old male allegedly assaulted the second school staff member. The 18 year old male was also found in possession of a knife. At no time was the knife used in the assault. One staff membered suffered a minor abrasion during the assault and did not require medical attention. Medical attention was not required by the three other individuals involved in the altercations.

Upon arriving at the White Oaks Secondary School, Halton Regional Police found one perpetrator was subdued by school staff. The police arrested both the young person and the adult male student.

The young person has been charged with level 1 assault, and uttering threats. The 18 year old male has been charged with level 1 assault, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The name of the adult male is not being made public to ensure the protection of the young person’s identity.

The Halton Regional Police would like to assure the public that at no time were other students, or faculty of White Oaks Secondary School in any danger.
