Thanks to a tip from a member of the public, one of two suspects has been arrested by the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) in connection with a series of recent commercial break and enters in the Town of Oakville and the City of Burlington.
On October 31, 2018, the HRPS released a photograph of a suspect who committed two commercial break and enters into gas stations in the Town of Oakville. Thanks to a tip received from the public, a 28 year-old man from Hamilton was identified as the suspect in the photograph.
On November 22, 2018, one person was arrested in the City of Hamilton and was transported to the Oakville police station where he was held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for November 23, 2018, in Milton.
This suspected was charged with the following offences:
- Break and Enter (5 counts)
- Possession of property obtained by crime
- Breach of Probation
Through the course of an investigation, police have determined that this suspect was also responsible for a second crime spree that occurred on October 21, 2018.
He is accused of having broken into the following businesses:
- Nike Factory store located at 3499 Wyecroft Road, Oakville, on October 21, 2018
- Pioneer gas station located at 2451 Lakeshore Road, Oakville, on October 21, 2018
- Fixt Wireless repair store located at 5010 Pinedale Avenue, Burlington, on October 21, 2018
- Pioneer gas station located at 2451 Lakeshore Road, Oakville, on October 28, 2018
- Husky gas station located at 630 Fourth Line, Oakville, on October 28, 2018
The HRPS would like to thank the public for their assistance in identifying the accused. A second suspect in these break and enters remains outstanding at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
