The Conversation

Dasantila Golemi-Kotra is a Professor of Biology, at York University in Canada.

Golemi-Kotra finished her PhD from Wayne State University, Michigan. Her research thesis was focused on understanding the mechanism of antibiotic resistance in bacteria. Then she continued my postdoctoral training at Yale University, researching on strategies to design small proteins to tackle interactions of biological molecules involved in cancer and viral infections. As an independent researcher at York University, she set to focus on microbial infections and in particular microbial response to antimicrobial chemotherapeutic agents. She loves teaching microbiology and getting the students to appreciate the chemistry of microbial life and understand the infectious diseases at molecular level.
