
Sameer Elsayed MD
Dr. Sameer Elsayed is Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases (Department of Medicine), Division of Microbiology (Pathology & Laboratory Medicine), and Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Western University. He holds degrees in Medicine (M.D., Queen's University at Kingston), Public Health-Epidemiology (MPH, Harvard University), Healthcare Quality (MSc., Queen's University at Kingston), and Biology (BSc., Western University). He holds certifications in Infectious Diseases, Internal Medicine, and Medical Microbiology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Elsayed is the inaugural and current Director of the Adult Infectious Diseases Residency Training Program at Western University.
Dr. Elsayed is actively involved in direct patient care activities, medical education and clinical research. He serves as a consultant in Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology at three academic hospitals in London, Ontario, Canada and is the Physician Lead for the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program at London Health Sciences Centre. Dr. Elsayed is a Past Chair of the Ontario Medical Association Section on Infectious Diseases.
Dr. Elsayed has authored over 70 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters on a wide range of topics in Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology. His research interests are in antimicrobial resistance, antimicrobial stewardship, infectious diseases epidemiology, public health, and healthcare quality.
