Investigators with the Halton Regional Police Service have arrested two suspects in a street level robbery.

On Monday, March 26, 2018 shortly after 4:00 pm, a group of young persons approached another youth who was walking near Ridge Drive and Sixth Line in the Town of Oakville. A demand was made for the victim’s backpack.

When the victim refused, one accused grabbed a nearby tree branch and proceeded to hit the victim several times until the altercation was interrupted by a nearby citizen. The group then fled the scene in a dark coloured SUV.

No injuries were sustained and no items were taken.

The investigating officers charged one young person from Oakville with robbery (1 count) and another young person from Mississauga with robbery (1 count).

Both were later released by police with a date to attend the Ontario Court of Justice.

As stipulated in the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the names of the young persons cannot be released.
