For the 4th year in a row, Dave & Noreen Higgins with a great deal of help from the Oakville community organized what is the food event of the season: Oakville Taste. This year the charity was Oakville Galleries "Art for All" which provides art programs for children in financial need.
Each year the venue changes and this year Oakville Taste was held at Gairloch Gardens and Estate, located just south of Lakeshore Road East. Likely one of the most beautiful public parks, its manicured british inspired gardens, winding trails, lovely ponds with Swans included, was heaven yesterday as the sun shined, and the waters of Lake Ontario sparkled. Combined with the excellent food, delicious beverages were the patrons, both young and old, beautifully dressed, and ready to eat and sip their way through the afternoon.
My wife and I decided to cycle down, and make use of the valet parking service for bicycles, provided by the local cycling club. A $50 gift certificate was raffled off to bike travellers courtesy of Racer Sportif, and won by Councillor Pam Damoff. Car valet services were provided by Oak-Land Ford, who raffled off a car for a long weekend, and the winner was the person who guessed the total number of cereal boxes packed into the a car - great idea.
