On Sunday, Oct. 20 Home Suite Hope (HSH) will host its 16th annual Empty Bowls signature fundraiser, presented by Taylor, at Appleby College in Oakville.

Home Suite Hope is a Halton-based non-profit that works with single parents facing homelessness to provide housing, education and employment. This popular fundraiser, fashioned after a soup kitchen, always draws a crowd. Ticket purchasers can sample soups from a variety of local restaurateurs, along with bread and desserts, and can take home a hand-painted bowl as a souvenir.

All proceeds support HSH programs like Homeward Bound Halton, launched in 2014 as the first Canadian replication of an award-winning educational program for homeless and precariously-housed single mothers that fights poverty, prevents domestic violence and builds economic security for single parent families.

Tickets sold in advance cost $60 or $75 (with a souvenir hand-painted pottery bowl from Crack Pot Studio) and include soups prepared by local chefs, bread and desserts.

WHEN: Sunday, Oct. 20. There will be two seatings: 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. or 1:15 p.m.-2:45 p.m.

While Empty Bowls has been hosted at various venues over its 16 years, including an at-home delivery model during COVID-19, it returns this year to Appleby College. At our last Appleby College hosted Empty Bowls event in 2019, we raised a total of $108,300 in support of HSH families.

Over 500 HSH families and friends enjoyed delicious soups ladled into a new pottery bowl from Oakville, Burlington, and Milton’s favourite food establishments. This brought together over 20 local businesses together in support of over 30 single parent led families faced with homelessness, and actively working to make a change in their own lives through our education to employment program, Homeward Bound. With your help, we can continue to reach more people in the community with our message of hope. Creating lasting change, one family at a time.
